Victor Yuschenko is the current President of Ukraine. In re-run of the runoff election in 2004 he was declared the President of Ukraine. His success has lessened Russia's grip on Ukrainian political system, and brought new hope of democracy to Eastern Europe.

opposition leader in Belarus Recent events showed that the current president of Belarus doesn't want to lead his country on a more democratic path. Alaksandar Milinkievič opposes the current president of Belarus. Milinkievič has been hailed, by the West, as a democratic reformist.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is the current President of Russian Federation. Putin's policies have been seen as imerialistic. Putin is seen more and more as a dictator who is turning Russia  into a totalitarian state.
