During the Republican National Convention in August of 2004, twenty-five thousand men and women participated in the March for Women's Lives across the Brooklyn Bridge. The marchers advocated over the counter status for EC. |
Emergency contraception (EC)
can prevent unintended pregnancy up to 120 hours after unprotected sex.
It is most effective the sooner you take it;
however, EC is only available by prescription.
If emergency contraception was available over the counter, more women
would be able to obtain the drug in a timely matter. In
some states, pharmacists are allowed to refuse to fill a patient's
prescription of EC, because they are morally against EC. This is
a
form of malpractice against women and should not be allowed under the
law. I believe that timely access to EC
would help
in the prevention of unintended pregnancies; therefore, I believe the
students of Hunter College should have access to EC on campus. Email me to find out how you can
help get emergency contraception on campus!
