
McDonnell then launched a successful career as a freelance illustrator, drawing the Russell Baker Observer column for The New York Times Sunday Magazine from 1978-1993, and Bad Baby, a monthly comic strip for Parents Magazine, which ran for 10 years. During that time he also was a regular contributor to Sports Illustrated, Reader’s Digest, Forbes, Time and many other national magazines. His work has been animated for television commercials, most notably a PSA for the NY Philharmonic. He is coauthor of Krazy Kat: The Comic Art of George Herriman, published in 1986 by Abrams

| Mooch is a cat with
a red nose(
IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT BY NOW). One of the most fearless and
important characters of the Mutts Universe. Mooch is cared by his
two greatest masters Frank and Millie, two elderly folks that have
opposite feelings towards him. His greatest friend, ally, and 'closest
brother', is 'Earl the Dog' who lives next door to him. Most of
the
time both Mooch and Earl are seen very frequently throughout the Mutts
strip. Mooch also has great feline capabilites such as sleeping, eating anything he get's his paws on,scratching all sorts of objects to alleviate his kitty pleasures, and waking up his masters to cater to his every whim. But the most confusing attribute of Mooch would be his langauage. Mooch has sort of a lispse, in which any word that begins or ends in 's' will sound like 'sh'. For instance Mooch's quotes: "Yesh, Shuperb, Shmelly, Shtupedous, shtupidfy, etc." Mooch also has a great love intrests: One would be a two-eared female cat named Shnelly. Although her apperance remanins a mystery, the omnipotent love that Mooch has towards Shnelly is ever strong. Secondly would be his 'Little Pink Sock'. When he is alone he would play with this sock and sing songs to it. Sometimes calling it his great love. ![]() |
Earl is a dog with black ears
and has one black spot on his back. Another main icon of the Mutts
revolution. He lives alone with his loving master Ozzie. Throughout most of
the strip you can see Earl getting into trouble with his friend Mooch.
But although at times they may fight with each other by the end of the
day they are still best friends. But his true friend is of course his
master Ozzie. Frequently during the Mutts series you a strong

Shtinky Puddin

This is Shtinky Puddin. A
orange stripped tiger cat. Once lived to a famous a luxuriours
prince from India named Master Grey. Until one day Master Grey received
a message from one of his loyal subjects saying that many animals were
on the endangered species list. As a result he took upon this quest
which resulted in Shtinky's abandonment.He soon ended up in an animal
shelter, till one night he snuck out. Shtinky now free decides to
follow his master's wish of saving endangered
animals so he can one day be re-united with his loving prince. Plus he
loves to convince people to head over to the nearest animal shelter and
adopt a pet. As you see below.![]() |

Cat ![]() A few words can describe this kitty: 'A house cat who's the object of Mooch's affection." Although little is known about Shnelly, all we know that she all 'ears' for Mooch's loving comments, literally! Unfortunatly many times when Mooch puts on his best Romeo impression, it backfires when he falls off the branch off a tree. ![]() ![]() |
Mille "A very shweet
lady" Mille is the sweetest elderly women in Mutts. She is the caretaker of Mooch, whom she loves dearly. However whenever she tries feeding Mooch, most times she is rejected (in Mooch's terms: 'Shunbing' or "Foo!!!") by the kind of food she gives him. But the fact remains the same, she still loves her 'Moochie'. Frank "The Loveable
Old Coot"Married to the beautiful Mille. Frank has the total opposite feelings for Mooch. Nothing much is too be said about Frank but that he enjoys peace and quiet, reading the newspaper, and great hunger for food. ![]() |
