Registration Information for Incoming Freshmen + Freshwomen!!

If you are an incoming Fresh*, Follow the procedure bellow in order to register for courses at Hunter.
[* = men + women]

  1. First, you'll need to select a BLOCK PROGRAM that interests you. Once you are there, click on one of 13 topics you find interesting. It'll show you some "Blocks" in "XY" format [X = a number, Y = a letter]. Select one from the available choices. It should show the schedule of the selected block. Look very closely and select a "Block" that fits you the best. On the bottom of each block, there is a 4-digit number. Make sure you get this number. You'll need it for registration. You can't choose part from one block, and little from another "Block". If you select a "Block", you'll have to take everything on that particular "Block"

  2. [NOTE]: In order for you to choose a "Block" with a college level math course {ex- Math-101, Math-125/126, Stat-113, Math-104, Math-105}, you must take "The CUNY Math Assesment Exam" consisted of 5-parts. If you scored higher in Regents Exam, you may be exempted from ONLY parts I & II. You are NOT exempted from parts III, IV & V. Your score on this exam will determine your placement in the math course. For more info about scoring on this exam, Click Here.

  3. Now you know which block in which you are interested. You must also be sure to clear any "STOPS" you might have in order to be able to register. If so, you're ready to register for FALL '02 semester at Hunter. Aren't you excited?? Log on to the e-SIMS web-site. Remember, your ID is you social security number in xxxxxxxxx format & your password is your date of birth in MMDDYY [YY = ONLY the last 2 digits of the year].

  4. Once you're logged on, click on "Registration" -> "Fall 2002". You should see some boxes on the screen. On one of those boxes, enter the 4-digit number of the "Block" that you selected. If you don't know what I'm referring to, please read step I! If you have the number, just enter it and click on "Add" ONLY once. If the block is still not full you'll be able to get a seat. If it's full however, you'll need to select another "Block". As an Incoming Fresh*, you're GUARANTEED a seat in "Block". I'm assuming you found a seat and your schedule should appear on the screen.

  5. The next step is to register for ACSK 065.00. If you have noticed {I hope you did!} already, you have seen something like "ORSEM 001" on every "Blocks". This is the same course as ACSK 065.00. You MUST register for ACSK 065.00. After you register, someone will drop "ORSEM 001". You don't do the dropping!!. Click here to search for ACSK 065.00 schedule. Select "Semester", on "Course Number" box enter 065. LEAVE EVERYTHING ELSE AS THEY ARE. If you did it right, the schedule should show up. Select a course that fits in your schedule of other courses. Then get the 4-digit number. Go back to e-SIMS page. "Registration" -> "Fall 2002". On the box enter the 4-digit number and then click "Add" ONLY once. And once you see its added to your schedule, you're on your way for a Degree at Hunter!!!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is similar to something mentioned already. You can't take part of a "Block". Also, on the e-SIMS page when you log on, you'll see options like "Replace" or "Drop". Make sure you DON'T drop or replace ANY courses. If you do, it'll spoil EVERYTHING. So just stay away from them. [They also bite!!!] It's not time yet to use those options. [You have to be 50+ yrs old!!]
