Stephanie Camay, President

Stephanie joined the Graduate Student Association in 2007. She earned her B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio and is currently working towards a Masters in Urban Planning with a focus on transportation and environmental planning. Before, the GSA, Stephanie was involved in student government as the Treasurer of the Graduate Urban Affairs and Planning Association (GUAPA). She currently works as an Environmental Planner for URS Corporation, a private planning and engineering consulting firm. Her work at URS focuses on water resources - facility planning, environmental assessment, permitting, and land-use review for large-scale capital projects of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP). In addition, Stephanie works as a Research Assistant and Project Manager for the University Transportation Research Center (UTRC) and New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) on a comprehensive land-use based waterborne transportation study to assess the viability of ferry sites in the New York metropolitan region. Her research interests include asset management, alternative modes of transportation, and community impact assessment and public involvement in transportation and environmental planning.

 

Kate Ervin, Treasurer

Kate joined the GSA in 2006.  She earned her B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Arizona in Tucson.  She is currently working on a Master's in Urban Planning with a focus on regional land use and environmental planning.  Kate is an active member of the Hunter Urban Sustainability Collective and a founding member of the CUNY Sustainability Coalition.  She currently works as a transcriber at various NYC universities for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  Her research interests include sustainable stormwater management and green infrastructure.

 

Jaclyn Marchionni, Vice President of Club Relations

Jaclyn joined the Graduate Student Association in 2007.  She earned her B.A in Mass Communications with a concentration in Television and Video Production from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.  Jackie is currently working toward a Masters of Science in Educational Counseling in the preparation for certification in becoming a Professional School Counselor.  She also plans to complete a second Masters in Licensed Mental Health Counseling.  Jackie interns in the New York City school system and teaches dance classes.

Patrick Richards, Vice President of University Relations

Patrick joined the Graduate Student Association in late 2007.  He is from Minnesota, and went to the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he received his B.S. in History in 2004.  After two years in the banking industry in Milwaukee, he decided to escape from the Midwest.  He came to New York where he is currently pursuing his M.A. in History with an emphasis on colonial and early nineteenth century America. In addition, he is in his second semester as a teaching assistant and is preparing for the required Comprehensive Exam.  Looking forward, he is planning on pursuing a second masters in Library and Information Sciences with an emphasis on Information Systems. 

Mike Hollis, Sustainability Officer

Mike joined the Graduate Student Association in 2007. He earned his B.A. in International Relations from the University of Connecticut, specializing in economic development and performing his thesis fieldwork in Buenos Aires. Mike is now pursuing his M.A. in Anthropology, focusing on urban anthropology and the built environment with his fieldwork based here in New York City. In addition to his role in the GSA, he serves on Hunter’s Master Plan Committee and on the Hunter Sustainability Council. He currently works with the American Red Cross in Disaster Planning and Response.

Sean Mathey, Communications Officer

Sean Joined the Graduate Student Association in the Fall of 2006 as the Officer for Special Projects.  He graduated from Boston University in 2001 with a B.A. in International Relations.  Sean joined the Hunter Community in 2006 after spending five years in the Public Relations industry here in New York.  He is currently finishing his thesis for an M.A. in U.S. History, and will attend Law School in the fall of 2008.
