TORAH

Torah is Hebrew for teaching, generally Torah refers to the Five Books of Mozes. Torah can also refer to the 24 Books of the original Hebrew Bible, also known as the "Written Torah," and Torah can refer to the "Oral Torah," which includes the Mishna and Talmud. The Mishna and Talmud explain the meanings of the laws in the Written Torah.

The word Torah also means light, because the Torah is called "Torah Ohr" light of Torah since the teachings of the Torah illuminate our path in life. The Zohar teaches that the Creator looked into the Torah and created the world, so the Torah is the blueprint of the world.

Torah is also called Toras Chaim, the living Torah since it teaches us how to live and it is always alive, current and contemporary.
