| THOMAS HUNTER LOUNGE - (TH 105) - GENERAL RULES FOR
ALL EVENTS Lounge Hours:
1. Monday - Thursday: 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM,
Fridays: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
(The lounge will be available to all students at
these times on a walk-in basis subject to USG sponsored schedule. Any
chartered student organization that wants to have a special program during
any of these times may do so by making arrangements with the lounge supervisor
located in TH 105 and filling out the attached weekday reservation form.)
2. Weekends: Friday 5:00 PM to Sunday 10:30 PM inclusive.
(The lounge may be reserved by any chartered student
organization by making the necessary arrangements through Central Reservations
located in room 711 West. The lounge may be available until 2:00 AM on
Friday and Saturday.)
The lounge will be opened and closed at the aforementioned
weekday and weekend times by Campus Safety and Security. During the weekday
hours of operation, the lounge supervisor will be provided with a key.
Friday afternoon events cannot be carried over to
Friday night. Therefore, if a special event is planned in the lounge for
anytime after 5:00 PM on Friday, the lounge will not remain open. It must
be locked by Campus Safety and Security at 5:00 PM and then re-opened
by them as per the Central Reservations schedule.
- The maximum occupancy of this room at all times
is 74 people. It may be used for cultural events, lectures and parties
(see special rules for parties) by all officially chartered student organizations.
- Wine and/or beer may be served provided that a
temporary wine and beer permit has been obtained.
- Campus Safety and Security will determine the number
of peace officers required for each event and will so indicate on the
reservation form.
- Groups using the lounge must cooperate with the lounge supervisor, peace
officers, and the Office of Student Services representative. A representative
from the Office of Student Services will be required for all weekend events.
- If there is an admission charge or if any items
will be sold, the sponsoring group must obtain an accounting form from
the Office of Student Services prior to the event. A Student Event Information
Form and a flyer advertising the event must be provided.
- Set-up and clean-up are the responsibilities of
the sponsoring group.
- The sponsoring group is responsible to make full
restitution for any damage to the lounge as a result of their event.
- All lounge rules remain in effect for the duration
of the event.
- Smoking is not permitted in the lounge.
- The curfew for all weekend events (Friday and Saturday)
is 2:00 AM. No one will be admitted after 12 midnight. Once a guest leaves,
he/she will not be readmitted, unless arrangements have been made with
the peace officer(s) assigned and the lounge supervisor.
- Sponsoring groups must use paper/plastic cups and
may not serve beverages in bottles or cans.
- Public Safety and Security reserves the right to
eject any unruly guests or any guest in violation of College or lounge
rules.
- Any change to the lounge rules must be approved
in writing by the Office of Student Services.
- All applicable Hunter College rules apply to the
use of this facility.
- As all other lounges, the maximum number of times
any one group may use this lounge is twice per term on the weekdays and
twice per term on the weekends. However, if the lounge is still available
10 days prior to the requested date, a group may book it even if they
had two previous reservations.
Lounge Reservation Procedure - Weekdays
A. Obtain a weekday Thomas Hunter Student Lounge Reservation Form from
the lounge supervisor.
B. Have the form signed by the lounge supervisor,
Public Safety and Security, and the Office of Student Services. The Student
Event Information Form must be signed by the respective student government
president and treasurer prior to having the form signed by Student Services
if there are any revenues or expenses associated with this event.
C. Return the form to the lounge supervisor at least
7 days prior to the event.
Lounge Reservation Procedure - Weekends
A. Obtain a Central Reservations Form in Room 711
West.
B. Follow the routing slip and directions provided
In addition to the planning of an event for which
the chairperson is responsible, he/she must also conduct himself/herself
in an appropriate manner and therefore is expected to:
1. display a conscientious adherence to rules and
procedures;
2. keep the safety of patrons and guests paramount
in their planning and the execution of their event;
3. do nothing which would bring embarrassment to
Hunter College;
4. remind guests that since Hunter College is centered
in a residential neighborhood, late night/early morning noise reflects
badly on the College and its students.
Chairpersons of student parties and other
events who fail to act in a responsible manner may be subject to disciplinary
charges or other various penalties, such as having a letter of admonition
placed in their files, or from being prohibited from chairing future events,
etc. Additionally, the sponsoring group may have their reservation privileges
revoked.
